Check out these kindergarten and first grade students graphing in Pixie 3! First grade students had a blast this week learning about animal classification in computer class. We learned about mammals, amphibians, reptiles, fish, and birds. Students first watched a Brainpop Jr. video on animal classification, and then headed to Pixie2 to sort animals into the different categories using the sticker tool. Once students finished their worksheet, they went on the internet to play animal games. Check out some of the first graders below sorting animals in Pixie! Second grade students made flyers this week in Microsoft Publisher on what they want to be when they grow up. Students had to type at least one sentence explaining why they wanted to be that certain job when they grow up. Students used these tools in Microsoft Publisher: WordArt, Clipart, Textbox, and Shapes. Check out second graders working on their creations below! Check out some of the fourth graders below working on their postcards in Microsoft Publisher! The students researched a state in the Southeast Region on the internet. After their research, they took their information to Microsoft Publisher and created a postcard on their state. The students used these tools in Microsoft Publisher to create their postcard: WordArt, ClipArt, Text Box, and Shapes. Second grade through fifth grade began Microsoft Publisher this week. Microsoft Publisher is a great program to create a variety of publications.
Here is what each grade level did this week: Second Grade - Created a bedroom sign. Third Grade - Created a funny/inventive recipe. Fourth Grade - Researched a state in the Southeast Region on the internet (next week they will create a postcard on their state in Microsoft Publisher). Fifth Grade - Pretended that they run a travel company and needed to create a brochure to attract tourists to one of the 50 states. Students researched a state of their choice on the internet (next week they will create their brochure in Microsoft Publisher). First grade students had fun becoming explorers in the computer lab this week. First graders learned how to navigate Google Maps and explored places in the community as well as around the world. Some of the places we visited were: Huron Academy, The White House, Cedar Point, The Detroit Zoo, Comerica Park, Ford Field, Stonehenge, and the Statute of Liberty. Some students even found their house using Google Maps, and one student found their grandma's house! Check out these first graders using Google Maps! Looking for something fun to do at home online?
