Second graders got the chance to explore Google Earth this week in computer class. Google Earth is a free program you can download to your desktop, or you can explore Google Earth using the web browser Google Chrome. Google Earth is a geobrowser that accesses satellite and aerial imagery, ocean bathymetry, and other geographic data over the internet to represent the Earth as a three-dimensional globe.
Second graders had a blast exploring places around the Earth and in their community. Some of the fun places they visited were: Huron Academy, The White House, The Statute of Liberty, and the Detroit Zoo!
You can download Google Earth for free to use on your computer at home here: https://www.google.com/earth/download/ge/agree.html
If you do not want to download Google Earth, you can access it using Google Chrome here: https://www.google.com/earth/
